Experience all of New Zealand in one building. Te Papa, New Zealand's innovative and interactive national museum, is set in a breathtaking location on Wellington’s beautiful waterfront. The Museum has attracted over 18 million visitors since opening in 1998 and has established itself as a ‘must see’ on any visitor’s itinerary.
Explore the great treasures and stories of this country – its unique natural environment, Mäori culture and taonga (treasures), art heritage, and fascinating history. With a combination of the latest technology and classic story-telling, Te Papa educates, entertains, and inspires.
Experience an exquisitely carved marae, walk through living native bush, and be shaken in the Earthquake House. Get hands-on in Discovery Centres, then come face to face with a colossal squid and explore its life through 3-D animation. Venture into Our Space, a multimedia adventure and adrenalin-filled motion simulator rides. This is serious fun! Come. Explore. Enjoy!
